性视界传媒Honorary Fellow awarded CBE in King鈥檚 Birthday Honours
Rain Robertson, who returned to full-time education as a mature student at 性视界传媒in 2014, graduated with a BA in Archaeology this summer. Unbeknown to Rain her undergraduate dissertation entitled Harvesting the Mesolithic: deep time, deeper water as submitted at the beginning of the summer to and it has been shortlisted for the Society鈥檚 Undergraduate Dissertation Prize.
Speaking after she heard that she had been shortlisted for the award, Rain said, 鈥淚 did not actually know my dissertation had been submitted so feel quite overwhelmed. It鈥檚 not first place yet but, for me, even being a runner-up is a win! Here are pictures of me excavating in the cave site at Vela Spila, Croatia where my research took place, and another with my dissertation on submission day.鈥

The winner and runners up are announced at the Society鈥檚 Sara Champion lecture at the Society of Antiquaries, at Burlington House, Piccadilly, when the prizes are presented (the four candidates do not know the winner until the day). This year鈥檚 lecture on 25 October at 17.00 is by Dr Julia Farley on Making and breaking the British Iron Age: a holistic approach to craft and material culture.
