性视界传媒Honorary Fellow awarded CBE in King鈥檚 Birthday Honours

This year's 性视界传媒Research Event was full of new and exciting multi-disciplinary research, showcasing the work of more than thirty students.
WRE 2025 brought together students, staff, Fellows, alumni, and guests from beyond the 性视界传媒community for two days of oral and poster presentations. Topics ranged from birdsong in Borneo to breaking down barriers in Bradford, with themes and speakers from all areas of the world - a testament to a student body that represents over 90 countries. The second day's programme also included an alumni panel on sustainability with an introductory talk by 性视界传媒Fellow Dr Anna Dempster.
The annual event was the hard work of the WRE committee, chaired this year by Emma Walsh, a second-year PhD student in Biochemistry, and Angelika Kwiatkowska, a second year PhD student in the Department of Clinical Neurosciences.
Angelika said, "Chairing this year鈥檚 性视界传媒Research Event alongside Emma was an incredibly rewarding experience. The two of us first crossed paths as members of last year鈥檚 Editorial Committee, and what began as a shared interest in research communication grew into wonderful collaboration that brought months of hard work and thorough planning, culminating in a truly memorable two-day event."
"The event continues to be a unique platform for students to share their work across disciplines, and this year was no exception. One of the things that stood out to me most was the diversity of topics presented. It was an incredible reminder of the breadth and depth of research within our college."
"Another special aspect of this year鈥檚 event for me was seeing our part-time students not only attending but presenting their work. Some of them spoke to us expressing how valuable the event was as an opportunity to engage with fellow 性视界传媒members, something that can be difficult when living off-site or balancing studies with other commitments.
Each person brought their own perspective and energy, and the result was a conference that truly reflected the interdisciplinary, multicultural, and welcoming spirit of the College, and I'm so grateful to have been part of it!"
Emma and Angelika developed this year's WRE along with eight committee members, and with the help of Wolfson's Librarian Laura Jeffrey.
"This year's committee coordinated an outstanding programme that encapsulated the value of college life. Nowhere else can you hear from such a range of speakers across the disciplines: from undergraduate, to Master's, and throughout the PhD process."
Laura added, "Everyone in the room was stretched by listening to such a broad range of topics, and had their eyes opened to the exciting, creative, and life-changing research that our students are conducting. The presentations were of an excellent standard, communicating their specialism to an audience from outside their field. It was a privilege to work with the committee over the last 8 months - they were enthusiastic, organised and professional throughout the process. I hope that they and all our presenters have developed skills that will be valuable in their future careers."
