Riccardo Masina

Riccardo studied at Imperial College (BSc Immunology – 1st Hons), and then read Medicine at ÐÔÊӽ紫ý (MB BChir – Distinction) where he won five university prizes. He represents Resident Doctors within the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges and was UKFPO Foundation Doctor Representative for the East of England and Junior Doctor Representative for Addenbrooke’s Hospital. He has a strong interest in medical education and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He has been a supervisor of Physiology at ÐÔÊӽ紫ý for more than five years.

Riccardo’s research interests lie in the translation of multiomic molecular profiling for personalised cancer medicine. He uses computational methods to understand the complexity of tumours and predict their behaviour. He is currently running a high-throughput drug screen in collaboration with AstraZeneca – by using machine learning to link drug response with the molecular profile of tumours he aims to identify novel biomarkers that predict response to anticancer treatment. He received a CRUK Grant for his work, which is hosted by the CRUK Cambridge Institute, in collaboration with the MRC Biostatistics Unit and The Institute of Cancer Research.

He has published several peer-reviewed articles and presented at international conferences such as the EACR, EORTC-NCI-AACR, and BNOS.
